Many people are worrying about the radioactivity stuff¡Ä
Initially, we all are exposed to the radiation which is as much as 2.4 mili-sievert/year under the natural surroundings.
It is usually said that 500 mili-sievert radiation would start causing some damages in health, but once we stop being exposed, our body restores its condition. Of course, there would be more chances to get either leukemia or cancer later on once we receive such amount of radiation, though.
However, we have to be careful upon receiving the info from government. They say, for instance, ¡Èwe find 400 mili-siever radiation so and so¡Ä¡É. But this is ¡È400 mili-siever/hour¡É to be precise. It means that we will be exposed to the 400-mili-sievert radiation if we keep standing outside for an hour! (which we usually don¡Çt!!)
Also, we should be keen on the ¡Èmeasure unit¡É, not on the ¡Énumber¡É. Media often reports that they detect ¡Èthe radiation in the air 100 times more than the normal¡É. However, what is import to know is if it is ¡Èmili-sievert¡É or ¡Èmicro-sievert¡É. ¡ÈMicro-sievert¡É is 1/1000 of ¡Èmili-sievert¡É and what we usually hear in the new is ¡Èmicro-sievert¡É. Remember, it is only when the radiation reaches to 500 mili-sievert that starts damaging out health.
The radioactive ingredients can be washed away by taking shower and so on. Meanwhile, we have to avoid inhaling them. But, this, too, can be preventable by wearing the mask and the sunglasses, just as we relieve hay fever. So, don¡Çt be
And, here are my opinions by seeing the social noises all around recently.
Since the big earthquake hit Tokyo area as well, I understand that we want to store some foods or gas in case of emergency. But, do we need to buy them more than what we really need? Is everything OK if we only care about ourselves??
The devastated area are now seriously lacking the foods, the fuels and the medicines. According to the latest news, 15 elderly citizens died at the shelter. We are killing them by buying up the foods and the gas at our local stores!
Especially, buying up the gas is meaningless in Tokyo area. At the latest earthquake, the heavy traffic jam occurred and it was much faster to walk back home.
Also, I understand that we want to evacuate Tokyo to avoid the nuclear impact. But, is it really right thing to do at this moment? Should the fatal radiation reach to the metropolitan area, Tokyo would turn into the place where people cannot live anymore. So, if we escape from Tokyo, we must make up our minds not to return there again.
In case more and more people would be rushing out of the capital, the Japanese economy would be severely damaged. Many shops would go bankrupt. If we would return to Tokyo later on, we would not be able to live the life as we are enjoying now. So, by getting away from Tokyo, we are destroying Japan and its karma will come back to us.
Rather, we the survivors must minimize the catastrophic impact. Is should be our responsibility to rebuild the country.
God bless you!!
